Man charged in break-in on Riverside Drive Saturday morning

A 32-year-old man is head to an appearance in bail court Tuesday concerning a break-in on Riverside Drive on the weekend.

Greater Sudbury Police say officers responding to a break-in in progress about 12:40 a.m. Saturday at a residence on Riverside Drive discovered that a male suspect had locked himself in a bedroom with a person. The man then challenged the officers with a raised broom.

The tenant was not injured in the incident.

It was later determined the man had also tried to break into another residence on Riverside Drive a short time earlier.

The man is charged with attempted break and enter, break and enter, mischief, forcible confinement, assault with a weapon, and resist arrest.
