POLICE RAID GATCHELL HOME FOR COCAINE
A man and a woman were in bail court Friday following a cocaine bust in the city Thursday afternoon.
About 5 p.m. Thursday, Greater Sudbury Police and Royal Canadian Mounted Police officers arrested a 33-year-old man and 28-year-old woman in a vehicle on Damaris Street in Gatchell.
Found in the vehicle was about one gram of cocaine with an estimated street value of $100.
A search warrant was then executed at a Damaris Street residence. Found in the residence was 41.2 grams of cocaine with an estimated street value of $4,000, along with 5.47 grams of marijuana with an estimated street value of $50, and $370 in cash, a canister of pepper spray and a prohibited knife.
The pair was charged with trafficking in a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of property obtained by crime and two counts of possession of a prohibited weapon. The man was also charged with failure to comply with an undertaking.
In a separate matter, Greater Sudbury Police and RCMP Joint Forces Operation Drug Unit officers executed a search warrant at a Burton Avenue residence about 7:15 p.m.
Officers seized a small quantity of marijuana, a stolen 42-inch television and a prohibited knife.
A 56-year old man and a 54-year-old man were charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of a prohibited weapon, and possession of property obtained by crime. The pair was released and will appear in court Aug. 25.
POLICE CHARGE WOMAN DEFRAUDED FRIEND
Sudbury Rainbow Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward of up to $2,000 for information leading to the arrest of a city woman
wanted on more than a dozen fraud-related charges.
Sharlene St. Louis, 38, is
white, 5-foot-11, 190 pounds and has brown hair.
Greater Sudbury Police have an outstanding warrant out for the arrest of St. Louis.
Over a period of three to four months in 2009, say police, St. Louis is alleged to have committed a number of thefts and frauds against a person she had befriended.
It was reported that St. Louis would sign the victim's name on cheques and cash them or use his credit cards without his authority. Also, a vehicle belonging to the victim was sold without his consent.
St. Louis is facing charges of failing to appear in court, five counts of breach of recognizance, three counts of theft under $5,000, two counts of uttering forged documents, two counts of theft of a credit card, eight counts of possessing/ trafficking a stolen credit card, forgery and possession of property obtained by crime.
